About the work :

Bull IX is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Pierre Yermia.

This bronze sculpture is of a very elegant bull. "The Bull is the only male animal in my bestiary. Its silent and serenity comes from its massive torso, supported on long legs accentuating its fragile balance. Its small head is crowned with long horns that evokes neither violence nor aggressiveness. All the energy of the animal is contained in the tension of the volumes. It symbolizes in my view nature’s protective force.”

Original artwork: sculpture signed and numbered, limited edition of 8 + 4 artist’s proofs.

The work of Pierre Yermia is characterized by a very particular way of representing human and animal figures. Whether they are isolated or group characters, standing or lying, bulls, birds or felines, the artist always create a representation by lengthening their proportions to reach a point of fragile balance. There is thus in his sculptures a tension between stability and lightness.
