About the work :

Cybergreen II is a painting by contemporary artist Joachim Van der Vlugt.

This work, between figuration and abstraction, represents an abstract natural landscape. In the foreground of the work, dark geometric shapes hover over a background totally devoid of form.

The opposition between geometric shapes, realistic patterns and abstract composition is accentuated by the shades of dark colors used for the creation of this painting by Joachim Van der Vlugt, which continues an almost metaphysical questioning concerning the link between nature and culture. The natural patterns present in the work (sky and sea) collide with more abstract and geometric patterns that resemble the pixels of a digital image. This confrontation leaves room for a certain complementarity, as if the pixels - now omnipresent - completed the voids which nature abounds and cannot fill.

This image, which appears unfinished, or in the process of disintegrating, questions a process of digitization of the world currently at work. In addition, it declines the meaning that can be given to abstraction. Here, abstraction is primarily pictorial, but also understands as what is opposed to matter and which is the result of technology.
