About the work :

Lovers II  is a painting by contemporary Franco-Japanese artist Lumi Mizutani. Executed on Japanese paper and mounted on panels, this painting with silver leaf and pigments is of two cranes with stretched wingspan on a branch which stands out against the white of the glistening snow beyond. In the background, a blue sky and water meld together at the horizon. Blue and white are the dominant colours and give this piece a wintery feel. The red crests of the two birds are the only vibrant colours in this work.

In her figurative paintings, the artist frequently pays tribute to Japan and its traditional landscapes, particularly those of Higashiyama-ku in Kyoto, also Ueno in Tokyo. Plum trees, Cherry trees, weeping willows…  trees and nature play a very important part in the artist's work.

Artwork sold unframed.
