About the work :

Réparés is a work by French contemporary artist Cécile Raynal, from the "petites histoires en réserve" (tales from the storage area) series. This installation is comprised of the following works Caresse, Petit Renard, Survivant and Floriane.

This installation in smoked sandstone is comprised of four figurative sculptures, one of a woman and the three others of foxes. The woman is standing right knee slightly bent from the heel of her right foot drawing up onto the left foot. A nonchalant stance with left hand on hip. She is surrounded by three foxes, one near her and the two others below her.

« I model around the huge silence that exists between man and beast, I also envisage everyone's screams in the face of disaster. Nothing is explicit but when I am creating I try to incorporate threat, exterior, crutch, pause, caress. The beast, our untamed double, our siamese brother/ sister, our reflection. »

This sculpture exhibited in the Arts et Métiers museum between 29 May and 26 Aug 2018, part of the "petites histoires en réserve" series was created during Cécile Raynal's residency behind the scenes at the museum in 2017. As per her method, the artist created busts and standing figurines of the people she met as well as animal sculptures (wolves and foxes) recurrent in the works of the artist for a few years now.
